About

Pastor, theologian, coach.

I moved to Dallas, Texas in 2008 to help form Storyline Christian Community, a network of missional communities which I affectionately refer to as missional research and development (i.e., we fail a lot…and that’s a good thing!). I have a doctorate in Contextual Theology and I’m particularly passionate about practicing contemplative spirituality, forming creative expressions of Christian community, and healing spiritual trauma. I am certified in Strategies for Trauma Awareness and Resilience (STAR) through the Center for Justice and Peacebuilding at Eastern Mennonite University.

I am coauthor with Elaine Heath of Trauma-Informed Evangelism: Cultivating Communities of Wounded Healers, which addresses how to love neighbors well who have religious trauma.

I’m married to Julie and we’ve got three great kids and a Boston Terrier named Gus.
